Welcome to my blog! Hi, I'm Sherri, a happily married, 40-something, stay-at-home, work-at-home, work-outside-the-home mom. I have three boys (one's grown, married and a father himself; one is in high school; and the youngest is in middle school), two dogs, a cat and a bunch of other little critters...
I love to crochet and knit and sew. I'm always interested in learning new crafts, like bead stringing, felt doll making, book making, painting ...

I am proud to announce that I have yet another sock monkey pattern. When I first became enamored (obsessed) with sock monkeys, I wanted to knot one and couldn’t find a pattern anywhere. So I eventually made my own pattern (and, of course, now you can find plentyy of them to choose from…)
After that I made a small crocheted version about the size of my Sassy Critters.
But now I’ve come up with a big crocheted version of a sock monkey I think he’s really cute and awesome. As always, after I finally do something I’ve been thinking about for a long time, I wonder, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?”
Til next time,
Sherri
Just a quick update to let you know about a few things that are going on this month on Sherri Crochets & Crafts.
To celebrate Valentines Day, starting February 1st and running through the end of the month, all of my crocheted doll patterns will be 25% off for Pattern of the Month. But if you’d rather not make them yourself, all plush dolls will be 33% off.
Don’t forget — if you live in the Clear Lake / Galveston area of Houston, TX, I offer crochet and knitting lessons. I also have lots of earth-friendly shopping bags, as well as a handful of hand crocheted and knitted scarves and several hand knit and crocheted baby hats. Check out my destash items (yarn, books and supplies).
In the meantime, have a great Valentine!

I’m very disappointed with myself lately. I used to always finish every book I started; finished every project I started before beginning another, listed every item I made right after making it, etc, etc… But now, I haven’t finished the last 5 books I”ve started (I haven’t even picked up a book in months) and I have at least 5 crochet projects going and at least 3 knitted ones and many scarves and re-useable bags that have not been listed and probably 5 patterns that need to be typed up.
Here’s a list of unfinished projects off the top of my head …
Crochet:
*Dachsund (one is done, one is not);
*Big crocheted sock monkey;
*a crocheted snuggie for my grandson for Christmas;
*a triangle shawl that I’ve kept in my car to work on when I’m out;
Knitting:
*a small knitted sock monkey (key chain sized);
*a cute orange garter stitch scarf;
*an ugly black and gold scarf (maybe I can’t finish it because I think it’s ugly?);
*a fluffy blue, purple and pink scarf;
*Knitty’s Sock-topus that I started at least a year ago …
Needs to be listed:
*dozens of sewn re-useable grocery bags that are so cute, but need pictures and to be listed;
*bunches of destash yarn, books and supplies;
*a female soldier doll I made a year ago;
*a cute brown and green baby hat;
*all the patterns below once I type them up;
Patterns to be typed up:
*knitted sock monkey scarf and hat set;
*crocheted flower scarf / belt;
*sock monkey sweater / hat / scarf set;
*dachsund dog life-like pet;
Ideas that I have that I want to start:
*winter hats in my son’s school colors;
*matching scarves for the hats;
*I really want to crochet a bunch of dish clothes / wash clothes;
I think I should print out this and check off things as I get them done?

Happy Thanksgiving to those here in the States. It’s that time of year again when we get to stuff ourselves silly with turkey, stuffing, potatoes and more! Yee haw!

I don’t know about you, but for me, this summer has just flown by. And I’m ready for it to be over, too. It’s been in the mid to upper 90’s here in Houston since late May and I’m sick of the heat. I may have never said this before in my entire life, but I’m ready for winter! I usually hate being cold, but after these scorching temps, I’m ready for a cool down.
What’s New?
I’m very excited to announce that I have three fun new patterns this month!
The first is a Life-Like Chihuahua crochet pattern. The pattern comes with directions to make your Doggy a boy, if you want, and includes directions to make him or her a collar. The second pattern is for a Chi-Hula-Hula Dog, which is the same dog pattern but instead of a collar, it includes the directions to make a Hawaiian Hula Skirt and Lei. And the third pattern is for the Hula Skirt and Lei by itself. I’ve got plenty of ideas in my head for future dogs and accessories. A Dachshund is currently ‘on the hook’ and will be finished soon!
I also listed some money saving pattern packs. For instance, you can buy all of my Little People patterns at once and save $3! That’s like getting the basic Little People pattern free.
I’ve also started listing some of my destash supplies. I have listed a couple books and knitting needles so far. I have lots of destash yarn to list, too, but need to get some pics of it taken first.
There is still a lot of things left in the CLEARANCE section. The Congress has decided that yarn and fabric and stuffing are safe for children, but buttons, and things like safety eyes, need to be tested for lead. And since I can’t afford lead testing, these things are in my clearance section. Check it out! These are all one of a kind items and once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.
September’s Pattern of the Month:
Because they are new and I’m excited about them, I’m making the Chihuahua patterns, as well as the clothing pattern, the Patterns of the Month. All three patterns are 25% off for the entire month of September. So drop by and check them out!
Until next month,
Sherri
